We've created this onboarding guide to ensure you hit the ground running 🚀
Step 1: What brings you to Contra?
Select the type of workspace you would like to create on Contra. If you are an independent looking to share work, get inspired, connect with clients, etc, you'd select Share work. If you are a client looking to hire independent's on Contra, you'd select Hire creative talent.
This onboarding guide is specifically for the independent side of Contra.
Step 2: Upload Your Profile Photo
For your profile photo, choose a high-quality image where you’re looking approachable and professional. A great profile photo can go a long way in building trust and making connections!
Step 3: Write Your One-liner
Write a brief but impactful statement that describes what you do and highlights your creative focus. (Ex: "Creative Designer helping brands tell their stories"). Need more inspiration? Check out our guide on writing one-liners here!
Step 4: Create your account
Once you have completed the above steps you'll be able to create your account. You can sign up for Contra Pro or proceed with a free account.
Step 5: Select topics you are interested in
You will see some topics suggested for you based on your one-liner or search for topics you are interested in. You can select as many topics as you'd like. This helps us curate your feed specifically to you!
That's it! Your account is now created on Contra.
Completing your profile on Contra.
Once you have setup your account, you'll need to complete your profile in order to be Discoverable by clients. Here is what's needed in order to complete your profile.
Step 1: Add a profile cover image or video
Choose an image or video that you feel is the best possible example of your work. We recommend choosing a high quality image that you think will look great on Discover, or creating a video that’s a highlight reel of your best work.
Step 2: Add 4 pieces of work to your profile
You can add work directly to your profile, from the preview section of the profile completion checklist, or by posting the work on the feed.

Step 3: Add your rate
When it comes to your hourly rate, set a value that reflects your experience and the industry standard. Don’t be shy about valuing your time, your skills are worth it!
Step 4: Share a social link
Adding social links helps build credibility and provides a way for potential clients to learn more about your work before getting in touch. Ideally, one of these is a LinkedIn but you can add links from any platform, including portfolio website links!
Step 5: Verify identity & set up your wallet
Enter all necessary information required for receiving payments on Contra. For more information on setting up your wallet, see our guide here!
You're Ready to Start Earning on Contra 💸
Once you've completed this step, you’ve officially onboarded and completed your profile on Contra! You're now discoverable, and can start applying to jobs you're matched to 🙌
