Are you looking to start a new project on Contra? Sending a proposal is your first step. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

Step 1: Access Your Projects & Invoices Tab

Start by going to your "Projects & Invoices" tab in your Contra account.

Step 2: Start a Project

Next, click on the "Start a project" button.

Step 3: Add Details to Your Proposal

Follow the prompts to add a timeline, details, and deliverables for your proposal. Once everything is filled out, you can send it off to any client on (or off) Contra.

Your client will receive an email notification informing them of your proposal. If your client does not have a Contra account, they will be prompted to create one quickly. Once they have an account, they can review and sign your proposal, setting the groundwork for your project to begin.

Different Project Structures You Can Use

When creating a project on Contra, consider using one of the following structures:

  • Escrow Payments: The client gets invoiced at regular intervals based on a fixed fee or hours worked.

    • One-Time Projects: Ideal for individual projects with specific start and end dates.

    • Milestone Projects: Suited for projects involving multiple checkpoints.

  • Invoice Billing: The client gets invoiced at regular intervals based on a fixed fee or hours worked.

    • Fixed Payments: Perfect for continuous projects with an uncertain end date.

    • Hourly Payments: Great for continuous projects with a defined hourly rate, but an unknown total number of hours needed to complete the project.

And there you have it! You're now ready to send a proposal on Contra.
