Cancellation FAQs

Written by Maggie Shanahan

When can I cancel a project on Contra?
You can cancel a project at any time if both you and the independent agree to end the contract. If payment hasn't been made yet, you can cancel the project directly without being contacted by Contra support.

Do I need to contact support to cancel a project?
No, you don't. You can cancel the project by following the steps in this link. If Contra requires any further information about this cancellation, our support team will reach out to you directly.

How do I submit a cancellation request?
Follow the steps in this link.

Will I get a refund if I cancel a project?
If you cancel your project and have funds held in Escrow that need to be refunded, our support team will initiate the refund process after reviewing the cancellation request. Refunds typically take 5–10 business days to process.

We at Contra cannot refund any payments that have already been released to the independent. However, the independent can issue a refund on their end, if the funds remain in their Contra wallet and they are in agreement! They can learn how to do so by following this article: How to refund your client

If the amount has already been withdrawn out of Contra, the refund will have to be issued off-platform.

Why don't I have the option to mark my project as complete?

If there are any unpaid invoices associated with a project, you won’t be able to mark it as complete. If an invoice was automatically generated after the project was completed, the independent can delete it, and you’ll then be able to mark the project as complete.
