Projects on Contra are comprehensive showcases of your previous work, providing a holistic view of your skills, creativity, and expertise. They are an essential tool to give potential clients a personal insight into your working style and achievements.

How to Build Your Projects

Here's how to create compelling projects to attract potential clients.

Step 1: Add Visual Content

Add relevant images, videos, audio embeds or any other links that highlight your work. You can also integrate content from social media platforms like Instagram or YouTube for a more dynamic presentation. To see all of your options, simply select the "+" icon inside your Project's edit page.

Recommended file sizes are 1600 × 1200 (max file size is 200MB for videos and images).

Step 2: Add Written Content

This is where you tell the story of the project. Here are some guiding questions to help you:

  • What was the project's objective?

  • What's the context of this project (brand/company, project owners, purpose of project)?

  • What problem(s) were you trying to solve?

  • How did you arrive at your solution?

  • What did you learn while working on this project?

  • Is there anything that you would do differently on the next project?

  • Who was your client? What results did you achieve for them?

Once you're happy with your project's written and visual content, click "Continue" to edit your project's details before publishing, or save your work as a draft.

Step 3: Complete Your Project's Details

Once you've added your project's visual and written content, you'll need to complete your project's details to finish the project.

Start with a clear, catchy title (e.g., “Nike F/W 2021 Website Redesign”) and a concise description. A good practice is to include the company's name or the project's focus (e.g., "Nike F/W 2021 Website Redesign")

You can also add project collaborators and clients on this page to add credibility. Don’t forget to list the skills, tools, and industry involved to showcase your expertise.

Lastly, you can also include links to the work and the project’s timeline.

Once you've done all this, just click "Publish" to set your project live on your profile!

Tips for Optimizing Your Projects

1. Maintain a Consistent Format

A consistent format across all your projects makes it easier for clients to navigate. Begin with a brief introduction about your client and goals, follow with your work process, and conclude with the final result. For a bonus, include a testimonial from your client.

2. Use High-Quality Images and Captions

High-quality images effectively showcase your work. Add captions to provide context and emphasize key project aspects.

3. Link to Relevant Work

Linking to relevant work within your projects and services allows clients to explore your portfolio easily.

4. Write Clear and Specific Descriptions

Strategically use headers and bullet points to make your content digestible and navigable.

5. Verify your Projects

Verified projects take your portfolio to the next level by showcasing real work and real earnings with added proof. Learn more about the projects you can verify and how to do this here!

6. Add Collaborators

Add anyone who collaborated on the project with you as a collaborator to give (and get) credit. This helps you unlock visibility and social proof while increasing your chances of being featured.

7. Focus on Quality Over Quantity

Highlight 3-6 of your best projects that align with the services you offer. This focused approach helps clients understand your expertise and avoids confusion.

8. Update Your Profile Regularly

Regularly updating your profile with new projects and achievements shows clients you are active on Contra and allows you to track your progress.

By applying these best practices, you can enhance your Contra profile and attract increased attention from potential clients. Remember, the goal is to present your work in the best possible light and make it easy for clients to understand your skills and offerings.

Remember, your projects are a reflection of you and your work. Invest time in them, and they will serve as a powerful tool for securing future opportunities!
